After Your Session

Aftercare Guidance

How to look after yourself following your treatment for the best results.

In the Hours Following Treatment

  • Drink plenty of water, massage releases toxins from the muscles and staying hydrated helps flush them from your system.
  • Rest if you feel tired, your body is processing the work done during the treatment.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours after a deep tissue treatment.
  • Avoid alcohol for the rest of the day.
  • Keep warm and comfortable, avoid cold draughts especially after a hot stone massage.

Common Post-Treatment Responses

  • Mild muscle soreness (particularly after deep tissue massage), this is normal and will ease within 48 hours.
  • Feeling sleepy or deeply relaxed, allow yourself to rest.
  • Emotional release, this is a positive sign of the body processing held tension.
  • Increased need to urinate, a sign the lymphatic system is eliminating waste.
  • Mild headache, drink more water; this usually passes quickly.
